This year National Influenza Vaccination Week is being celebrated from December 6th-12th. It is never too late to get a flu vaccination and it is recommended more now than ever to make sure you are vaccinated in order to prevent having the flu at the same time as COVID-19. It is recommended that people from 6 months and older get vaccinated once a year.

Being proactive by taking the extra precautions to ensure that your health is prioritized will help you defeat the winter holiday blues and have a healthy rest of the year.

FIGHTING LONELINESS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

The outbreak of COVID-19 has created a significant amount of changes, forcing us to adjust to a new way of living. Holidays are usually the time to see your loved ones and catch up on missed time but it is still recommended to stay home in order to limit the spread of the virus. Cases are still rising in the US so many families are forced to skip out on visiting relatives this year. However, there is a lot of ways you can reduce the feeling of loneliness and make the best out of the current situation.

November is National Family Caregivers Month and we here at Attentive Care Inc. would like to recognize and celebrate those who are helping give support to the elderly community especially those caring for their own family and loved ones.

It is important that you take care of yourself properly, especially as a caregiver, as you cannot pour from an empty cup and won’t be able to provide excellent care. In order to avoid that here are three tips to make sure that you are in great shape.

See a doctor regularly. 70% of caregivers report they don’t see a doctor regularly because of their responsibilities

Seek help from others. If you feel overwhelmed with your responsibilities reach out to someone you can trust to help lighten your load.

Rest and recharge when necessary. Taking time off to rest your body allows you to come back feeling energized.

Join us in thanking them for all of their
hard work and effort this month!

My wife‘s 87 years old father, Herbert has been receiving services from Attentive Care Inc. since late July. During this time, Herbert faced many challenges due to a rapid increase of his dementia symptoms. He had several hospitalizations, and several urinary catheters, which he at various times, pulled out, and currently he has an in dwelling Supra pubic Catheter. My wife and I cannot say enough about the care and compassion, which the staff of Attentive Care Inc. showed Herbert. Due to his condition, we have had aides many hours of the day and night for him. Even in the face of challenges of caring for a dementia patient, the aides who worked with him never lost their patience and composure. The aides are always professional, even though we’ve become very comfortable with our regulars Attentive Care Inc. has been very accommodating with our requests to have familiar faces working with Herbert. We would not hesitate to recommend this company for any home care needs.

…..Sincerely, Mitchell and Joyce Winter

There are no words to describe my appreciation for the services and care you have provided for my son as he recovers from a head trauma. It has been six months since the accident, our adult son lives in one city and my husband and I live 800 miles from him. We did not know where to turn to find a caregiver. We feel so fortunate that we found your agency. Your level of professionalism and your Attentive Care. Toward our son and the family, were extraordinary. You could not have picked a more appropriate name for your company! Your Screening process appears to be so thorough. We were fortunate to meet his initial caregivers and felt very secure knowing
that he would be under their care 24/7. As our son began to recover, you really understood his personality and the type of person who would work best with him. His caregiver has truly become a companion and a part of our family. If we ever have a question to ask her, she promptly returns our calls and is so pleasant and forthright. I think the two things that separate your agency from other agencies are your 24-hour call service and your empathetic ear as you listen to the needs of the client and the client’s family. The fact that you travel hours to visit the clients is also an exceptional service. It is so hard to watch a loved one suffer. It is such a helpless feeling. Your agency has helped to make the challenges more manageable and has helped to make one family feel so much more secure. I have told everyone I know on the east coast about you. I wish that you covered all fifty states. You are a credit to the profession and have become a trusted friend. Thank You for servicing a population who needs support from others.

…..Sincerely,  An appreciative parent of an adult child.

Our founder Winnie Krofah a Registered Nurse started Attentive Care Inc. in 2001 with the vision of ensuring that our clients receive quality care to live life to its fullest with dignity and respect in the privacy of their own home by providing qualified caregivers to provide care and home support.

to be widely known by our reputation, or clients, and the community in general as a provider of quality, reliable and cost-effective none medical home care in South Jersey, NJ. Attentive Care, Inc. is especially sensitive to the needs of the elderly and the medically fragile. HEALTH CORNER: MINIMIZING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19
Take everyday precautions with proper handwashing and social distasting

Thanks to all First Responder and Essential Workers, we appreciate You!

Where and how can I be tested for COVID-19 in New Jersey? Who should get testing?

GENERAL INFORMATION

Testing is prioritized for health care workers and first responders, personnel in congregate living settings, those who have been in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19, and individuals who are experiencing,
CDC-recognized symptoms of COVID-19:

• Cough
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Fever (at or above 99.6°F)
• Chills
• Repeated shaking with chills
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Muscle pain
• New loss of taste or smell

Complete this self-assessment on the Symptom Tracker to learn what to do.

INFORMATION ON TESTING SITES

There are several types of testing sites:

• Community-based testing sites – These sites are open to all New Jerseyans, including asymptomatic individuals. Asymptomatic individuals are asked to contact a health care provider or public health official before seeking testing, as it is critical that testing supplies are available for front-line workers and vulnerable populations. Where resources are strained, testing will be prioritized for asymptomatic health care workers and first responders, personnel in congregate living settings, and New Jerseyans who have been in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19.

• Local testing sites – These sites may be restricted to residents of a specific county, municipality, or to first responders. Some also require an appointment and/or prescription from a healthcare provider.

• Pharmacy testing sites – The State has authorized the more than 18,000 licensed pharmacists in New Jersey to administer FDA-approved or authorized COVID-19 tests to their customers without a prescription. Testing is available at participating pharmacies including CVS, Rite-Aid, and Walmart. Please check with your local pharmacist as testing is not available at all locations and many may require an appointment or online registration. For more information, CVS, Rite-Aid, and Walmart have set up websites where you can book an appointment and find testing locations.

• Private testing sites – To access testing at these sites, you must contact your doctor or healthcare provider.

• First responders and health care workers – Both career and volunteer first responders and health care workers can also access appointment-only, drive-thru testing sites in the Meadowlands, Deptford, and Somerset. These sites have been opened by the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association, in partnership with Accurate Diagnostic Labs: njpba.adlabscovidtest.com
